Have you always wanted to learn guitar but for some reason have not got around to it? I have heard that a lot since I started teaching guitar in Wimbledon over five years ago. There are many reasons why people fail at keeping up with their New Year’s resolution. Some of them are just unrealistic and others like learning guitar requires the strategy and consistency. Learning guitar is something very hard to do on your own. Just listen to my student Lauren talking about her attempts to teach herself :
and Zara who also found it very difficult to learn on her own.
The good news is that learning guitar is a realistic goal providing you find an expert guitar tutor who has been there himself and who knows the psychology of the guitar student.
New Year is a good time to change something in your life. It’s a good time to start something new. Why not to take up guitar and learn how to play it?
The way you can make it is very simple. Start small and make baby steps every day. Don’t make unrealistic goals. Think small and enjoy the process of learning guitar. Once you start seeing some results in your playing you can make more serious goals. The biggest reason why people fail at guitar is because they don’t feel good about themselves and they constantly compare themselves to more advanced players who have spent thousands of hours of practice.
